2014-15 SCHOOL TEAM TRAINING SERIES
This training is designed for a school team of teachers to attend, and then take back to teachers in their buildings. Teachers may choose from one of three tracks and commit to attending three meetings in the summer, fall and winter. The training is optional and offered free of charge to Tennessee educators.
Preparing Students for Success in Math: This series will focus on how mathematical ideas are developed as students progress through the grades. Understanding learning progressions will allow teachers to build on previous understandings and focus on the mathematics critical for success in future grades. We will dive into the most challenging and important content areas to deepen content knowledge and expectations. This is designed for a team of learning leaders from each school and designed for redelivery to all math teachers in grades 3-11.
Preparing Students for Success in Literacy: This series will focus on instructional strategies that will support student success in analytic reading and writing. We will dive deeply into the research-based practices that support effective evidence-centered writing. This is designed for a team of learning leaders from each school and for redelivery to all English language arts (ELA), science, social studies, and career and technical education (CTE) teachers 3-11.
Preparing Students for Success in Early Grades: This dedicated training series for pre-K-2 will focus on deepening teacher understanding of developmentally appropriate, rigorous expectations for pre-K-2 in reading and math and instructional strategies that will support student success. This is designed for a team of learning leaders from each school and designed for redelivery to all pre-K-2 teachers.

If you are interested in this training, please speak with your school and district about being selected for your school’s team. Participants must be able to attend one training session in summer, one in fall and one in winter. In addition, schools will need to hold time for redelivery of the training to all relevant teachers.

Additional capacity was recently added for many of our training sites following higher than anticipated demand. A speadsheet of sites with additional capacity can be found here
In addition to the spaces listed in the spreadsheet, a number of new sites were added for the School Team Training Series.

While detailed information is provided here about additional space for the summer trainings, the fall and winter dates will also have expanded capacity and new sites for the School Team Training Series. Please Note: Due to a limited number of Core Coaches, some new sites may not host all grade bands and subjects.

2014 DIRECT TRAINING OPTIONS
The following trainings are available on a first come, first served basis to all Tennessee educators and are optional and free of charge. These trainings are designed for teachers to attend for personal professional learning.

Reading Intervention Training: This training is focused on explicit instruction in reading and supports the RTI2 framework. It is designed for any person who provides Tier II or Tier III interventions in reading. This is a summer version of the intervention courses offered during the 2013-14 year.
Math Intervention Training: This training will focus on research-based interventions for Tier II and Tier III in math, designed for interventionists and special education teachers. The training will focus on diagnosing math skill gaps and strategies that support student success. This training is new content and will support RTI2.
Re-Offer of Reading Training (K-3): This training focuses on explicit and systematic Tier I instruction in reading. This is designed for new teachers, teachers who were not able to attend previously or teachers who are seeking to improve their reading instruction. This is a re-offer of the reading training offered during the summer in 2013.
Re-Offer of Math Training: This training will feature a combination of 2012 and 2013 content and focus on deepening teacher understanding of the Common Core State Standards in mathematics and instructional strategies that support student success. This is designed for new teachers, teachers who were not able to attend previously or teachers who are seeking to improve their math instruction.
Re-Offer of Literacy Training (4-12): The reoffer of the literacy training will focus on deepening teacher understanding of the Common Core State Standards in literacy and instructional strategies that support student success. This is designed for ELA, science and CTE educators including new teachers, teachers who were not able to attend previously or teachers who are seeking to improve their literacy instruction.
Social Studies: Combining focus on literacy instruction with content about the new Tennessee Social Studies standards, this training is designed to support teachers in understanding the new expectations for student learning in Social Studies and instructional strategies that will support student success. This is designed for social studies teachers in grades K-12.
These trainings will be offered in each grand division, rotating each week to allow for access across the region.
